Dennis Horter

Chief Operating Officer

Beyond an extensive clinical practice, Dennis has served the veterinary industry in technical services and operations for more than 20 years. At Arista, he strives to implement a successful veterinary-owned de novo structure he helped foster as chief operating officer of CityVet, Inc.

Prior to joining CityVet, Dennis was the director of veterinary professional services at Zoetis. At BluePearl Veterinary Partners, he was responsible for operations and integration of specialty and emergency hospitals as the regional vice president of operations. He was the chief operating officer at Encore Vet Group, responsible for managing growth to more than 60 GP, specialty, and emergency hospitals.

Dennis completed his undergraduate studies at South Dakota State University and received a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, while completing research on diagnostic test development, virology, immunology, and infectious disease. He concurrently earned a master’s degree in Veterinary Microbiology. Dennis practiced small animal medicine in both GP and ER/referral practice in the Minneapolis Metro area. He received his board certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in canine and feline practice, is a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner as recognized by the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and is a boarded diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
