Jennifer Welser

DVM, DACVO

President

Jennifer draws on over 24 years of experience in the veterinary specialty referral and emergency world. Her wealth of knowledge and her desire to not only bring the opportunity for shared ownership to specialty and emergency clinicians, but also to evolve the care delivery experience for everyone involved, is what differentiates Arista. She believes building a healthy and collaborative culture shared across primary care and advanced care teams, while focusing on exceptional, personalized experiences for clients, will deliver the best outcomes for pets.

Jennifer is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist who has practiced in a variety of settings, including large nonprofit and stand-alone ophthalmology practices, prior to owning her ophthalmology consulting service within multispecialty referral centers. Before joining Arista, she was with BluePearl Veterinary Partners, where she practiced in New York City and started her senior leadership journey. Jennifer was chief medical officer at BluePearl Veterinary Partners for five years before stepping into the role of global chief medical officer for Mars Veterinary Health, a role she held for five years as well. In addition to building a global medical function, she was exposed to veterinary practices of all shapes and sizes across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Along the way, she also successfully licensed and sold a therapeutic nutritional supplement to a global veterinary pharmaceutical company, and currently holds a patent on an ophthalmic medication dispensing device. Her specific experience, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit, makes building Arista the perfect fit.

Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal rotating internship at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and an ophthalmology residency to become a DACVO at Animal Eye Associates in Wheeling, Illinois.
